FEMTO AQUARIUM # 7
- the reed forest on your desk

                     The bog with reed
This glass is an aquascape, inspired by the reed forest in a bog.  Imagine the Sedge warbler and Nightingale a sunny afternoon. Here are no pike, but some harmless Green Hulk Shrimps.

                                             THE THOUGHTS
A friend came up with the idea, and I had just the right glass for this project. I want it to be fairly simple, rather light and delicate.
                                                  THE BUILD
I rushed out to the local lake to harvest some reed. The local florist supplied the Oasis, and then the problems began. The Oasis is slightly lighter than water, the reed way more. The Oasis was cut into shape, the reed added, then some screws to weight it down. The red granite filled on top, and some of the reed popped up again. After I have filled them with water, they kind of stayed down. The plants were bound on sphagnum and stones, and added - while the reed popped up once again. Eventually, it kind of succeeded, but not exactly as I had hoped.
At least, it was yet another fairly inexpensive build: The glass 3, Oasis (enough for 10) 3, shared light, shelf and background 5. The shrimps 5. Leftover plants from others 0. A total of 16.
