This big boulder of Dammestenen
is also known as Damestenen (The
lady stone) and Hesselagerstenen (after
the location), is without any
question the largest boulder known in
Denmark (well, except the island of
Bornholm). It is found at the end of its
own road on the island of Fyn.
The Dammestenen have been introduced
here from the south of Sweden, in the
context of the Baltic ice approach. It
is most likely is that a glacier tongue
has slipped over Sweden, which
Dammestene has been broken loose from
the bedrock and frozen into the bottom
of the glacier, then it have been
transported to its present position by
Dammestenvejen, 5874 Hesselager.

say that a lady who lived in Hou (the
northern end of Langeland), exasperated
that the tower of Svinninge church
served the seafarers too good a beakon,
in anger once threw the this giant stone
against Svinninge tower. But although
one can not deny that the good lady had
forces and understood that aim, the
stone only reached 2/3 of the way ".
When the witch had cast stone and was
well on the way to Svinninge, there came
an angel down from heaven and put his
foot in it so that it fell down, where
it now stands. And upstairs there is a
brand used by a foot.
It has come from Langeland.
Catapulted in the garter of a giant from
Bregninge hill, Tåsinge, after Svindinge
church; the band burst, so it did not
come that far.
Thrown in garter of a troll woman on
Langeland after Svindinge church.
Thrown by a woman on Langeland for
Svinninge church tower.
Thrown in a garter of a troll from the
outermost point of Langeland after
Svindinge church tower.
Thrown by a sorceress at Hov after
Svindinge church because it could be
seen so far away and had three bells,
"one of which is one of the largest in
this country." -
Thrown by a giantess at Korsor after a
dragon-like snake at Bregninge church.
Thrown by a giant from one of the
neighbouring islands from the first
church, as the bells rang.
Dammestenen must be thrown by a giant
from Langeland after Svindinge church.
The pack just does not stand to hear the
bells; and this had certainly thought to
do its peoples great pleasure, by
crushing the church before she was
finished. However, he did not know what
he wanted for his garters, which he
slung the stone in, went to pieces, and
the stone fell, where it is yet. The
more infidels do not think the stone has
been so great at the giant threw him,
but it has grown since, yes there are
those who think it is growing yet, every
time it smells new bread.
