This member of the
Sterculiaceae* family was
given this name by William Franklin Wight in 1909. It is found
in China, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam, growing in a drained soil with
quite some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to
centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 16 metres in
height. The flowers are light greenish yellow.
*This family might been incorporated
in the Malvaceae
family now, as sub-family: Sterculioideae, tribe: Sterculieae.
